picnic

Although it wasn’t quite perfect picnic weather, Saturday in Harrison Hot Springs was a great quick getaway. It was just a bit too windy and a bit too cold, but that didn’t stop Michael, Taryn, Jason, and me from enjoying our fig butter on baguettes and hard-boiled eggs.

The real object of our trip, though, was to see Taryn’s ridiculously talented friend Aaron Moran’s art show. Aaron has been living in Harrison as the Kent Harrison Arts Council’s artist in residence. If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend checking out his EXCAVATIONS show. His geometric sculptures made of found wood are my favourite— there’s something strangely nostalgic about the dusky pastel triangles, like remnants of the early 90′s left in the sun to fade. Michael and I purchased one of his Ghost Catalogue pieces to hang on our wall.

Also, we met some hungry goats.
